Through their dedication, expertise, and tenacity, Southampton Village Police detectives contribute to the administration of justice and the protection of public safety.

Comprised of one detective sergeant and three detectives, our Criminal Investigations division is responsible for investigating crimes—from misdemeanors to serious felonies—gathering evidence, identifying suspects, and building cases for prosecution.

Highly trained and specialized law enforcement professionals, our detectives handle cases that require in-depth investigation beyond the scope of routine patrol duties. They play a crucial role in the investigative process and work diligently to solve crimes and bring perpetrators to justice, to help ensure the safety and security of our community. Responsibilities include:

  • Investigating crimes

  • Interviewing witnesses & suspects

  • Surveillance & undercover operations

  • Coordinating with other agencies (county, state, federal, international)

  • Analysis & intelligence gathering

In addition to criminal investigation training our detectives engage in continuous training in specialized fields, including:

  • Hostage negations

  • Crisis negotiations

  • Human trafficking

  • Gang awareness

  • Narcotics

  • Homicide

  • Interview/Interrogation

  • Forensic interviewing of children

  • Money laundering
